Short Fiction

Turning away from the window, Aparna rubbed off the last drop of tear from her cheek. It’s been nearly 30 years of their marriage and concurrently, of the beatings and the tortures. Today, as the last of her three children secured a decent job, she finally breathed freely.
“It’s time to live for myself”- thinking this she picked up her suitcase and headed towards a new life.

  3. That was a nice read..sometimes, when there is no one to wipe that tear, we have to wipe it ourselves and head towards a new life on our own

    1. True that A S. When the impact continues to be painful, one definitely needs to cease living 'just' for others.

Most probably she gets to live a worthy life, not carrying the burden of a relationship..just in name. :)
